George

May 5, 2010

Hello from Western Kenya!  It took us 4 days to get here and another 3 to get settled in our rental house and meet/plan with our New Fire for Christ Kenya Discipleship Program Team.

Sunday spoke to about 600 spectators and athletes at a Football (soccer) Tournament on "Winning the Game of Life"... wonderful response, with over two hundred praying to confess Christ, according to His promise:  "If you shall confess that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved" (Romans 10:9).

When we got "home" to our rented house the following night, the cook who came to help us (on left in picture above) said he had been at the meeting that afternoon and had prayed to receive Christ.  He was excited, and told us he had already started to read through the book of John, a chapter a day... one of several follow-up instructions we give those who pray, along with getting their addresses and sending people to do personal follow-up with them.  We rejoiced together!

Please pray for George Mzungu (Mzungu means white man... though George is as black as can be!) as he learns how to follow Christ.  He had already found a good church to attend.  We pray for these new disciples as Christ did for the first disciples the night before He went to the cross:  "Keep them from the evil one; sanctify them [make them holy] through Your truth: Your word is truth" (John 17:17).
